Team Lloyd Irvin just celebrated 15 years in business, all of that time in PG County. First, congrats to Master Lloyd Irvin! Making it 1 year in the business world is hard enough but he’s made it 15 rock solid years, that’s bigtime folks!
I started this blog to talk about all things MMA, stuff like Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Judo and so on. If you live in Bowie and you wanted to train in MMA or all styles related you’d shoot yourself in the foot if you didn’t train with Master Lloyd Irvin at his academy in Camp Springs, MD.
To be honest, I’m not shocked one bit at all the success that Master Lloyd has had. The man works hard and truly cares about his students, pro fighter or not. A successful program, whether BJJ or MMA takes time to grow and Camp Springs was no “overnight” success. It took time but when the ball started rolling it didn’t stop. Now they have something like 15 fighters in the UFC, including Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and a rack of world champion BJJ and Muay Thai fighters.
I laugh when I run into people from the Bowie area and they say “I don’t know where to train at?!” I’m like you’re kidding right?! You’ve got Camp Springs and Master Lloyd Irvin right down the road (15 minutes south from Bowie). Guys and gals move from all over the world to train there and you live 15 minutes away! No excuses!
Alright, I got off track. Moving on…
Master Lloyd has done so much for me and I always try to give him props when I can. If it wasn’t for him my school in the Annapolis area would never had made it. We owe it all to him. People often ask me what makes Lloyd Irvin such a good instructor. I would say the main thing is his willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. If that means staying late to make sure you understand how to do the clinch knees then by god he’s going to be sure you understand clinch knees. You can’t fake that kind of caring, it’s just in his blood to help people. I’m happy he choose martial arts as a way to reach out to people. My life and the lives of many others including Julius Park, Teresa Russin and Brad Court to name a few…
Team LI, I fly that flag for a reason, it stands for all things I care about in the martial arts world. If you want to feel as lucky as I do give them a call at 301-449-KICK and do their 30 day trial, see for yourself!
