Ivey League MMA got a chance to travel to central Pennsylvania for an amazing Wrestling seminar given by Ben and Max Askren. For those who don’t know the Askren brothers let me fill you in. Both are NCAA national champions for the University of Missouri (Ben 2x and Max 1x). What that means is that they’re pretty much the best of the best in terms of college Wrestling in the United States.

Ben Askren
is also an accomplished MMA fighter with a record of 8-0 and is the current Bellitor middleweight champion. Ben will be fighting later this year to defend his title.

Max Askren is trying to make the Olympic team in 2012 and is doing very well on the Wrestling circuit.

Master Danny Ives and Miss Teresa “Reeseeroll” Russin made the 3 hour drive north to attend the seminar. They covered a lot of “funk” rolls to defend takedowns and Ben Askren even showed Master Danny some stuff he uses from the guard for MMA fighting, pretty cool stuff to say the least! To end the day Ben and Max did an exhibition Wrestling match at Bucknell in front of some fans. It was amazing! (watch the video posted to see it) That was some hardcore good old funking Wrestling.

Thanks a bunch to the Askren brothers for all the cool tricks. They’re some of the nicest people we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Also thanks a ton to the Bucknell Wrestling staff for letting us join in on the training. Dave Murry is the man!
